Coffee is one of my favorite food groups ... well, Coffee is one of my favorite food groups ... well, you know what I mean.

But did you know coffee is just as magical for skincare as it is for the ultimate morning beverage?

Coffee is invigorating to our skin, it exfoliates, helps to reduce inflammation, fine lines, dark circles ... all while making a more even and glowing skin tone.

This homemade coffee sugar scrub recipe can also double as a face mask.

INGREDIENTS
* 1/2 C Coconut Oil
* 1/2 C Ground Coffee
* 1 C Granulated Sugar
* 1/4 C Sweet Almond Oil
* 1-2 tbsp Vanilla
INSTRUCTIONS
In a mixing bowl, combine sugar and coffee. Mix together until well incorporated.
Next, add the coconut oil and mix. I like to use either my hands or a potato masher to get the coconut oil to mix well with the dry ingredients.
Then add sweet almond oil and vanilla extract, mix in and place into your favorite jar.

What are your favorite sustainable swaps? Our big What are your favorite sustainable swaps?

Our biggest sustainable swap success was making the switch from paper towels to reusable cloths. We also make as much from scratch (food and skincare) as we can to help reduce the amount of packaging we take in.

It’s also important to think of other uses for things ... egg cartons for egg-xample. Not only do we use them for eggs, but they make excellent seed starters and fire starters.

Glass jars? Don’t even get me started - we reuse glass containers over and over!

So, I’d love to hear your favorite sustainable swaps in the comments below!

Water propagation is a simple way to share housepl Water propagation is a simple way to share houseplant cuttings, and a very effective means of propagation.

Although not all plants can be propagated this way, there are many species that can. Today we are learning all about proper pruning and water propagation as demonstrated on my rhaphidophora tetrasperma. This plant has been pruned and propagated several times, and continues to grow to the ceiling!

This post is loaded with pictures to demonstrate the whole process, which is perfect for beginners. Link in bio.

"You can be anything you want to be. Did you know "You can be anything you want to be. Did you know that Mommy?"

Words of wisdom from my four year old son as we were driving off the other morning. I always tell my kids that, daily and sometimes twice per day.

Do whatever you want to do, you can do anything. Be anything. You can do anything you dream up. Society can put so much pressure on us all, but especially our kids at such a young age.

If our boys learn anything from me at all, let it just be for them to grow and do what makes them truly happy. After all, isn't that what we all really want anyway?

This Sunday, I hope everyone can take a moment to go against the grain of what "needs to be done" and just be who you are - right where you are.

On a side note, I'm working on a sweet dessert recipe and taste testing this beautiful cake. Can't wait to share it with you all once it's perfected.

I spend some time researching sourdough scoring te I spend some time researching sourdough scoring techniques and planning out how to score each loaf.

When I pulled this one out of the oven, I noticed the top of it had cracked. I immediately thought of what I could do differently next time to prevent the cracking and make the design look perfect.

Then I realized ... if the loaf comes out perfect, I won't want to cut and eat it. I'm actually happier that it cracked.

Life is about the journey, it's about learning, cracking, enjoying and having fun. It's not always about being perfect.
